Engineered for Thermal Efficiency. Defined by Reliability.

The modified Mazda MX-5 NC is a formidable platform, but increasing performance uncovers critical factory limitations. If you have upgraded to a high-flow, aftermarket tubular exhaust manifold, you have unknowingly introduced a severe thermal liability to your cooling system.

Our Coolant Reroute Kit is the definitive engineering solution. By completely deleting the vulnerable over-manifold fluid path, this kit permanently isolates your engine’s coolant from extreme radiant exhaust temperatures, safeguarding your engine under high-load street or track conditions.

The Thermal Problem: Factory Compromises vs. Aftermarket Realities

In factory configuration, the restrictive OEM exhaust manifold relies on heavy thermal lagging to shield the steel coolant transfer pipe running directly above it. While this cost-optimized design manages standard British Thermal Units (BTUs) on a stock car, fitting an unshielded aftermarket 4-1 or 4-2-1 manifold changes the equation entirely.

Without the factory heat shielding, immense infrared thermal energy radiates directly into the steel line carrying hot coolant from the back of the cylinder head to the expansion tank. On a professionally remapped car, this layout actively heat-soaks your cooling system, pushing operating temperatures into dangerous territory and risking catastrophic engine failure.

The Solution: Optimized Routing & True Isolation

Our kit bypasses this high-heat zone entirely. By rerouting the coolant path from the rear cylinder head barb, over the brake booster, and cleanly along the driver-side inner wing, the coolant is completely insulated from the exhaust tract before entering the factory expansion tank.

  • Versatile “Long-Tail” Architecture: Because we actively modify and track these cars ourselves, the primary coolant hose is supplied with additional length. Whether your engine bay layout is stock or you have performed the common motorsport modification of relocating the expansion tank toward the centre of the nose, this kit provides the flexibility to cut-to-length in situ without restriction.
  • Restored Cooling Efficiency: By eliminating an inefficient factory routing compromise, you significantly drop coolant temperatures and ensure your cooling system is shedding heat, not absorbing it.

What’s Included: The Definitive Kit List

Premium Fluid Transfer

  • High-Temp EPDM Coolant Core: Premium, reinforced rubber EPDM coolant hose engineered to withstand extreme engine bay temperatures and high system pressures.
  • Extended-Length Architecture: Over-length hose design to accommodate both standard and relocated/centred expansion tank setups.

Industrial-Grade Hardware & Sealing

  • Bespoke Mounting Hardware: High-tensile fasteners and secure routing clips to anchor the new line cleanly along the driver-side fender and brake booster area.
  • Heavy-Duty Hose Clamps: Constant-tension clamps ensuring a permanent, leak-free seal at the rear cylinder head barb and expansion tank entry.

Installation Requirements

  • Tools Required: Suitable hose cutters (or a sharp knife for clean squaring), long-handle needle-nose pliers, 3/8” ratchet set and some tin-snips or metal tie-wrap gun.
  • Pro-Tip: Route the hose completely along its new path and mark your final cut length with a marker pen before trimming to account for engine movement and your specific expansion tank position.
  • Safety Warning: Ensure the vehicle is completely cold before cracking open the cooling system. Never work on a hot cooling system to avoid severe scalding.
