We didn’t just design a holder; we fully integrated the UltraGauge’s physical connections and onboard features so you don’t lose any functionality or compromise on aesthetics:

• Half-Moon Cable Pass-Through: The rear edge of the speaker base plate—closest to the windshield—features a dedicated half-moon clearance slot. This provides an unobstructed path for the bulky, molded UltraGauge connector cable to route straight down into the dash cavity, ensuring the plate sits 100% flush without pinching the harness.

• Daylight Sensor Integration: The mount features a precision-placed 3mm sensor aperture aligned perfectly with the UltraGauge’s ambient light sensor. This ensures the unit’s auto-dimming feature operates flawlessly, keeping the screen readable in direct sunlight and comfortably dim during night drives.

• Tactile Button Access: Back-mounted buttons are notoriously difficult to reach once a gauge is flush-mounted. We engineered dedicated ergonomic clearance slots directly into the mount face, allowing for easy, unrestricted finger presses of the physical up and down navigation buttons.

Streamlined 15-Minute Installation Workflow

Installing a digital display shouldn’t mean tearing your dashboard apart. We engineered this system to be an incredibly simple 15-minute install:

1. Pop off your factory center speaker cover using a plastic trim tool.

2. Pass the flat UltraGauge OBD2 cable down through the half-moon slot at the rear of the base plate and into the center speaker cavity toward the driver’s footwell.

3. Plug the OBD2 connector into your factory port under the dash, securing excess cable with the supplied heavy-duty zip ties.

4. Clip the new mount into the dash. Perfect, factory-look integration with zero permanent modifications.

Installation Requirements & Tips

• Tools Required: Plastic trim removal tool, OBD2-equipped NC MX-5 (2005–2015).

• Pro-Tip: When routing the flat OBD2 cable down through the speaker cavity, drop a small piece of weighted string down first. Tie it to the connector to easily pull the cable down into the footwell before aligning it with the rear half-moon cutout.

• Cable Warning: Ensure you route the OBD2 cable completely clear of the steering column and pedal assembly. Use the supplied zip ties to secure the harness safely up and out of the way of your feet.
